Goodbye G5, welcome Habu !

My Logitech G5 crashed on Thursday night. I had some "hard point" when I wanted to click the right button. Hopefully that happened just a few second before I decided to stop CSS for the night.
Yet I am a bit confused. I had this mouse for about one year and half, it is suposed to be a gamer mouse (so to be used a lot), and though the right click crashed, even if I used this button 3 times less than left click...
Let's be honest, it was a good mouse. I didn't care about the 2000 dpi or so, but it was working well until then. I just find there were not enough buttons on it. There were 3 more (I mean, other than right, left and wheel buttons), but I always needed more.

So I had to find a new one, and I googled "cord mouse with 7 button". And I found the Microsoft (Razer) HABU mouse, that was in my prices and decided to buy it. I'm going to play a bit more with it and then make a review of this mouse. Maybe with some comparison between Logitechs and Microsofts mice, as I bought a lot of mice in the 3 last years, most of them MS or Logitech (MS basic cordless mouse, that I still have, then MX1000, then MX518, that I bring back to the shop before even using it as I didn't want cordless mouse anymore), then G5, and now Habu...).
When I bought my first optical mouse (Logitech, yeah !), I find this so much better without the ball that I thought I would never buy any other mouse anymore !! LMAO, had I known !!

Ive had my razer copperhead for over a year now and 'touch wood' its still going strong. Would like to hear how you're getting on with the habu though... that was going to be my next mouse (when i need a new one).
My main problem however is headsets... up until the icemat siberia it seemed i was needing a new one every other month!
Fingers crossed the siberia lasts a little longer huh!

I've been using the habu mouse for 6 months and only now has a problem occurred , where the mouse appears to disconnect from windows, the mouse goes dead for ten seconds and the sound for the usb connecting/disconnecting is played.
Now this only used to happen in game but now it is happening in windows. Sometimes in game it becomes so bad that i have to give up.
I may have found an answer to this problem in a forum.
Because it is basically a copperhead (it uses the same internals)this is becoming a common problem. One idea i am following up is that the standard usb port puts out a maximum 100ma where as the mouse can need up to 200ma when it is busy in game, thus causing the mouse to disconnect. The remedy is to buy a powered usb hub which supplies 500ma to each port and therefore the Habu should have plenty of power.
Sorry to jump on your blog but i thought i better warn you about the cutting out problem. If this fixes it then i have no other complaints about how the mouse operates, in fact i would buy another when this one wears out.

I've been using my Diamondback for about 11months now but reckon it's nearly time for a change.

Tell me how you get on with your HABU davo as it's on my list of options.
